24 Units of SCB14-3150kVA Dry-Type Transformers for a Cloud Data Center in Ireland

Project Overview

HBTP supplied 24 units of SCB14-3150/10 transformers for a major tech company's European cloud infrastructure facility in Dublin, Ireland. The project represents a significant deployment in the cloud data center sector, requiring transformers engineered for reliable operation under demanding conditions.

Project Background

Ireland has become a leading European hub for data centers due to its favorable climate, low corporate tax rates, and excellent connectivity. This facility requires maximum efficiency and reliability to support cloud computing workloads with 2N redundancy throughout the electrical infrastructure.

Customer Requirements

Requirements included: 3150kVA capacity (largest dry-type units), SCB14 highest efficiency class, 10kV/0.4kV ratio, ultra-low partial discharge (≤5 pC), F1 fire resistance, CE marking, and compliance with EU Ecodesign regulations (EU 2019/1783).

Our Solution

HBTP supplied its SCB14-series transformers, engineered specifically for cloud data center applications. The high-quality CRGO silicon steel core with step-lap mitered joints minimizes no-load losses, while copper windings provide enhanced short-circuit withstand capability and long service life.

Parameter Specification
Model SCB14-3150/10

Quality & Testing

Each transformer underwent extended partial discharge testing to verify the ≤5 pC requirement. Type tests included temperature rise, impulse withstand, and sound level measurements. All units are CE marked and EU Ecodesign compliant, verified by third-party certification.

Delivery & Installation

The 24 large-capacity transformers required special transport arrangements due to their size and weight. HBTP coordinated with Irish logistics partners for safe delivery and provided on-site commissioning support across multiple phases.
